London is beautiful in the evening, after dark, with all those landmarks colourfully lit up. But what about after midnight, when Big Ben’s floodlights turn off and apart from a few party hotspots, the streets go quiet? I’ve been there. When all that’s left is cold, dark and litter.
That’s the moment when who you’re with becomes more important than where you are. Excitement becomes adventure, adventure becomes challenge. Cold becomes very cold, and tired becomes exhausted.
This Friday, I’ll be on the streets of London all night, walking 25 km in aid of the Big Issue Foundation. The sponsorship money will go to an organisation that is working directly with people on the streets, for whom this dark, cold experience is not just one night but every night. And who often don’t have anyone to share it with.
I’m leaving London for Chester in just over a week’s time, and I want to leave the best possible legacy for this wonderful city.
Please visit our team sponsorship page and help the six of us reach our £1,000 target in the next 6 days! Thank you.
