The other point is of course that Jesus (in Matthew 24 et al.) was trying to make the opposite point about earthquakes and suchlike. He wasn't trying to describe the end times, but quite the opposite: he was describing some things that were not them - and of which, therefore, we should not be afraid. So there we go. There are bits in the Bible which do seem to describe the Rapture, though ("two men will be in a field; one will be taken and the other left", and so on) so I guess we must continue to debate what they actually mean...
